CONSTRUCTION OF STAFF HOUSES UNDER CDF AT KAPEKESA PRIMARY SCHOOL.
Chasefu Town Council has made significant progress in improving access to quality education through the use of the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF). In pursuit of sustainable infrastructure and service delivery, the Council has committed funds towards the construction of five modern staff houses at Kapekesa Primary School, located in Membe Ward.
The initiative directly addresses one of the most pressing challenges within Chasefu District’s education sector with accommodation for teachers . Currently, the district employs 924 teachers across the 113 schools, many of whom lack safe and appropriate housing. This situation has adversely impacted teacher morale, retention and educational outcomes.
The staff houses designed with durable materials and fitted with flushable toilets are built to support long-term teacher placement, thereby ensuring continuity and stability in instructional delivery. The project exemplifies Chasefu Town Council’s commitment to the Eighth National Development Plan which emphasizes human capital investment and decentralization of resources.
Speaking on the development, Council Secretary Engineer Kennedy Bwalya thanked the government and the Council’s dedication to the increased CDF allocation fund for transformative community infrastructure. He further emphasized that the construction of these staff houses will provide teachers with comfortable accommodation, improving their living conditions and enabling them to focus on their work.
This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on education delivery in the area, ultimately benefiting the community.
The Council anticipates completion and handover of the houses in 2025, marking a step toward enhancing rural education outcomes and advancing Government’s vision for inclusive development.
