Magodi ward has qualified to the Semi-finals of the Chasefu Community Sports tournament after narrowly beating close neighbors Susa ward by 1-0 in a match played at Mthwalo Primary School football ground on Sunday September 27th 2024.
The Community Sports Tournament has been organized by Chasefu Town Council in collaboration with other stakeholders in the district courtesy of funding from the government of the republic of Zambia.
The well attended game was played side by side with a netball encounter between Luwerezi and Susa ward Which saw the ladies under the Councilor Chilibwe Gondwe led ward thrashing their rivals from the Ward led by Councilor Malukuta Gondwe by 27-12.
Meanwhile Luwerezi Ward football team was the first to make it to the Semi finals upon humiliating Chaboli Ward football team by 3-0 on October 24th , 2024 in a match played at Emusa Day Secondary School Ground after Independence Day Celebrations .
All eyes for the two qualifying teams will now be fixed on the outcome of the forthcoming clashes between Kapilisanga and Nkhanga besides Membe and Chizingizi wards while the Luwerezi queens will be closely paying attention to the next opponent as Mandahill ward ladies will lock horns with Magodi as Kapilisanga women will host Nkhanga with Membe and Chizingizi battling to eliminate each other in the forthcoming netball games.
The tournament started with the first knockout stages which saw five out of 10 teams qualifying outrightly while three others were picked as best losers to complete the set for the quarter finals.
