Works on critical crossing points along the Beu-Muchenja road in Susa ward of Chasefu district are significantly progressing with the project expected to be completed before the onset of the 2024/2025 rainy season.
The works which include the installation of complete culverts to be covered by concrete deck commencemed on August 28 and are expected to be completed and subsequently handed over to the local authority by the contractor on September 25th 2024.
Chasefu Town Council Director of Engineering services Eng. Cosmas Mpundu who recently inspected the project found 42 culverts on the site strategically positioned in specific points of installation with the contractor on site much to his pleasure.
Eng. Mpundu has cautioned the contractor against failure to meet the targeted time frame for the completion of the project considering its significance to the community.
“The road is significant for the community whose movements are restricted in rainy season thereby failing to access basic services. Expectations from the people in this area are quite high.”
The k1,100,000 worth of the project is being done by the local authority using the force account.
Chasefu Town Council further takes cognisance of the concerns by some community members in Kapilisanga ward on the need to finish working on the Hoya-Kamzoole road in Kapilisanga ward before the onset of the rains.
The bridge whose impassibility has largely been necessitated by the rains is being worked on by the council using the earth moving equipment procured under the Constituency Development Fund.
The pace of works were slowed down by a fault that developed on a motor grader which has since been worked on and is back on site.
Besides the road in question various critical sections that require urgent attention. The council will therefore try to speed the works in a best way possible in order to prevent communities from failing to access social services from either sides.
The community in Kapilisanga and other surrounding areas is urged to be patient and support the local authority in its implementation of the project.
